Mike started his interest in the game at the ripe old age of 13 in 1976. In 1978 Mike formed Stokesley SC '78, and this club has continued since but under different names, currently NETFA Brigantes.

Mike was regional champion back in the day and so played in the old national championships with the greats of the day. Over the years he has been instrumental in bringing many top players to the game, notably the Thomas brothers, David Russell and Andrew Hillerby.
He has won a few decent FISTF events and has always been regarded as a tough opponent in the old and new formats of the game, although he claims "I've never really been a tournament player. I would class myself as a decent player, maybe good, but a long way short of being a top player."
Mike has always been regarded as a fair and honest player, who plays the game in the right spirit. He started organising long ago, being a regional organiser for many years. I have also done a few stints on the ESA board, and a brief stint working for FISTF, assisting the treasurer.
Over the past few years he has reverted to playing the big ball game with the lads from the Birmingham league, where he managed to win the league. These days, he plays fewer games and travels less, but the game remains in his blood and we are all very excited about him joining the ESA board.
