With the 2023/24 Subbuteo Table Football season coming to an end, it's time to reflect on what has been another great season in our English Subbuteo community.
First of all, the ESA board would like to thank all our members for supporting each and every club and event that has taken place this past season. It's been another great season, and as an Association, we are very proud of how Subbuteo is progressing in England. Here are a few community successes from this past campaign. There was the introduction of the Subbuteo Old School circuit, a celebration of old Subbuteo which was very well supported by it's six host clubs and by all the players who attended each event. There was a very successfully FISTF English Grand Prix in Flitwick which welcomed players not only from England but from other parts of Britain and across Europe, and it was a massive step forward for the Leicester Foxes Subbuteo club who hosted their first FISTF event, an excellent two-day Satellite.
The Subbuteo & FISTF Clubs In England
Firstly a special mention goes to Wobbly Hobby SC and Kent Invicta who have been a massive part of Subbuteo in England these last few years. The clubs maybe going, but only in name. The Kent Invicta players will now join with the Wobbly Hobby SC under the new name, Langton Green Subbuteo Club, in Tunbridge Wells, with the focus on bringing young players into the game and having a successful FISTF team to compete on the international stage at FISTF events. Also, another highly successful FISTF Team was Elstow Lions who will be calling it a day too. Elstow burst onto the scene at the start of the season with a star-studded line up and went on to win trophies in England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Their players will be moving on to other various teams around Europe.
I am pleased to announce that we will enter next season with a current total of 40 active clubs in England who actively host events or play at events.
