The English Subbuteo Association would like to announce and congratulate Matt Lampitt as the winner of the ESA English Championships Circuit for the 2023/24 season. Matt attended 3 rounds, winning in Bristol and Teesside and finishing runner-up in Chesterfield. The circuit winners best 3 results were taken into account, so Matt scored 300 points overall winning the Championship by 28 points.
Kevin Cordell who had a fantastic Championships ended the circuit in the runner-up spot only 28 points behind, after winning round 3 in Pedmore and finishing in the runners-up place at his own club, Stanway Rovers in round 1.
Finishing the ESA English Championships in 3rd place and top placed veteran was, Bristol's, Aaron Skinner, who was very consistent over the course of the six circuit events, with one 3rd place finish and two in 4th.
Below is the top 10 final ESA English Championship 2023/24 table where all players will qualify for the prestigious Masters Event on Saturday 17th of August 2024 in Milton Keynes.
Congratulations to all the qualifying players who will be joined by 2 wildcard picks who will be chosen by the ESA board who will nominate a player each and then vote to complete the 12 player line-up.
In the Under 20's category the ESA are proud to congratulate Jamie Warren on winning his first ESA English Championships Under 20's circuit. Jamie played in 5 of the 6 rounds and was the highest place youth finisher in 4 of the rounds.
5 under 20's players competed for the overall Championship, with Gage Badger finishing 2nd and Max Pereira finishing in 3rd place. A special mention to Connor Gregory who finished as top youth finisher in 2 of the rounds he competed in. Well done to the 5 players who all attended at least 3 rounds of the circuit, below is there final Under 20's table.
The ESA English Championships 2023/2024 Round up
This season's English championships were played over 6 rounds and played to the Swiss System format. It was also another record breaking circuit with player numbers exceeding those from the season before, with 73 English players, playing in at least one round. 3 players showed the ultimate commitment, by attending all 6 rounds, they were Aaron Skinner, Simon Goodman and Mick Hammonds, well done to you. Also a big part, but not included in the final table were the non English players who couldn't score Championship points, Paul Andreas (Cyprus) winning Round 1 at Stanway and Chris Bedford (Wales) winning round 4 in Chesterfield, well done to both. The ESA Board would like to thank everyone who supported the circuit and the clubs who hosted each round. Below is the final Championship table with every English player who played.

Once again the ESA would like to thank everyone who travelled, played and enjoyed this series of great Subbuteo Table Football events that brought together our community of players and supporters.
What's in store for next season's Championships?
We would also like to inform you that the ESA board are currently working on a revised format for next season's ESA Championships. We have had many any ideas and suggestions from ESA members and all are being taken into consideration, and we will work on how we can improve the circuit going forward. An announcement will come in due course.
