This past Sunday, the Subbuteo community descended upon Redhill, near London, for the highly anticipated Surrey Saracens FISTF Satellite event. Hosted by the Surrey Saracens Subbuteo Club, the competition attracted 32 players from across the UK and beyond, with notable international participation including Norwegian player Terje Ellefsen, who made the journey to compete.
The main event was played under the official FISTF (Federation of International Sports Table Football) banner, while the accompanying Consolidation Plate was organized under the WASPA (World Amateur Subbuteo Players Association) framework, ensuring an inclusive environment for players of all skill levels.
After an exciting day of competitive play, Rudi Peterschinigg emerged as the winner of the main event, securing a 3-0 victory over Terje Ellefsen in the final. Meanwhile, the Consolidation Plate event saw a thrilling conclusion, with Simon Bodily triumphing over Connor Gregory in a dramatic penalty shootout after the match ended 1-1. Bodily won 2-1 on shots, capping off a closely fought contest.
This marked Surrey Saracens’ first time hosting a FISTF event at their club, and it proved to be a resounding success. The event was expertly organized by Simon Goodman, Lee, and Alex Fenton, who ensured the tournament ran smoothly and provided an excellent experience for all involved.
The event was a great showcase of the passion and skill within the Subbuteo community, further cementing Surrey Saracens Subbuteo Club’s growing reputation in the sport.
